CSA Preface This is the first edition of CAN/CSA-ISO 37120, Sustainable development of communities - Indicators for city services and quality of life, which is an adoption without modification of the identically titled ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard 37120 (first edition, 2014-05-15). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as “CAN/CSA-ISO 37120” throughout. At time of publication, ISO 37120:2014 is available from ISO in English only. CSA Group will publish the French version when it becomes available from ISO. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Technical Committee on Sustainable Communities in Development, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Business Management and Sustainability, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope This International Standard defines and establishes methodologies for a set of indicators to steer and measure the performance of city services and quality of life. It follows the principles set out and can be used in conjunction with ISO 37101:-, Sustainable development in communities - Management systems - General principles and requirements, when published, and other strategic frameworks. This International Standard is applicable to any city, municipality or local government that undertakes to measure its performance in a comparable and verifiable manner, irrespective of size and location.
